Eldon Walls was born and
raised on a farm in the 30's near Ardenode, Alberta, Canada, some forty miles
north east of Calgary. The cowboy part of him, limited though it may be, comes
from his youth as getting around was done on horseback and not in 'fancy' cars.
Eldon's artistic talents come natural, but to enhance his techniques he
attends workshops held by local well known artists.
His preference has always been working with oils on canvas, painting
horses and farm life into landscapes of the mountains and prairies where he was
raised.
The enjoyment he gets from drawing cowboys and horses in comic situations
shows in his cartoons and caricatures.
Painting large murals on inside and outside walls has become a specialty,
mostly in the last five years. Beginning at the Strathmore Legion to Western
R.V.'s four locations, to Calgary, Trochu, Elnora and Coronation, accomplishing
over 8,700 square feet.
In 2000 Eldon became a member of the prestigious group of artists known as
the "Cowboy Cartoonists International Inc." (C.C.I) Which now consists of a
membership of fourteen Americans and four Canadians.
His artwork has been shown in many central and southern Alberta art shows
as well as in various art galleries located in Strathmore, LaFlamme Galleries in
Calgary, Heritage Western Center in Cochrane and 'Gallery on Main' in Lacombe.
Also in C.C.I. shows that are held in U.S. locations, Sandpoint Idaho, Elensburg
Washington, and now at the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas in December.
Another accomplishment, as well as a pleasure and honor, has been to draw
and produce both the front and back cover of Tom King's recent book of poetry
"From Cowboy's Office Window". He also shared in the artwork of cartoons inside
with the much talented "Cowboy Cartoonists International Inc." founding member,
Ben Crane.
